May Day ~ On Friday, May 7, the Freshman Class
observed May Day. This day was designed as a Day of Blessings
for the students who have completed their first year at
the high school level and who are preparing to "step up"
to new challenges. Students wore flower leis as a symbol
of unity, strength, power, and growth. Freshmen and their
teachers attended a special prayer service held in the Hartnett
Arena. Mrs. Judith Sheedy, freshman coordinator and the
homeroom representatives presented maile leis to the freshman
teachers. Several persons from the NCHS community blessed
the freshman class: seniors, parents, teachers, coaches,
administrators, and chaplain. Following the water ceremony,
Mr. Nemeth, who designed the program, gave the class a Hawaiian
title: Na Wai Eha o Pono , The Four Waters of Righteousness.
A group of freshmen performed an empowerment chant. Caleb
Wenzel provided piano accompaniment.

before day 1 of the TAPPS State Golf Championship. The little
girl in the picture is Christina and she was in town for
brain surgery (due to a form of cancer) the same morning
as the 1st day of the tournament. When the team found out
the situation they made her a poster and took it, a silver
cross that belonged to one of the mom's and the feather
boa she is wearing to her room. They visited with her and
posed for pictures. The following morning they were heard
saying "Let's play for Christina". On the night before one
