Cinderella Story- Follow-up ~ Julie Anton was first runner up in the Cinderella Charity Ball raising over $100,000 which is the third highest total in the event's 45 year history held on March 26th. Nearly 1,500 people attended the event held in the Arlington Convention Center. The 20 candidates competing raised a record $637,217 during their campaign. The money raised will support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington. Julie would like to thank all her NCHS supporters for their kindness and generosity during her seven week campaign.

Sea Cadet Of the Year - Follow- up ~ After being named Sea Cadet of the Year for Texas, Cory Zebian was entered in the national competition. He competed against 50 other cadets. He was recently told by the regional director, LCDR Sid Willis, USNSCC, that he finished in the top five nationally, but no rankings other than 1st are released. Zebian, a junior at NCHS, is eligible to compete for this award again next year.

Senior Honored as Runner-up "Texan" of the Year ~ On Saturday, March 12, 2005, Nolan Catholic senior Ian White was named the first runner- up in the statewide Young Texan/Texanne Program sponsored by the Optimist Clubs and was awarded $750 in scholarship money to Rice University. White, of Arlington, was nominated in December by the Breakfast East Fort Worth Optimist Club and won the district competition. Students compete based on academics, awards, community service, employment, and future plans.

Girls Scout Gold Award ~ Seniors Reghan Grasty, Alyssa Noonan, and Tomi Seriki earned the Girls Scouts Gold Award. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout 14-17 may earn. Someone once described the Girl Scout Gold Award as being "what you really want to be remembered for" in Girl Scouting. The girls completed their community service project through JPS Health Network. On February 21, they gave JPS a baby shower complete with hundreds of baby items for new mothers as well as baked items for the nursing staff on the labor and delivery floor. "The list of items [secured by the award recipients] is very impressive," says Patricia Moreno, JPS Volunteer Services, "more than what we get from our corporation donors at Christmas time." A special thank you goes to Mrs. Veronica Tucker for her part in coordinating the item donation drive on campus.

    1) The School Chapel will be open Tuesday April 5 through Friday April 8, with the Pope's portrait on display, for people to drop by and pray. Each of the religion classes will be scheduled to come in sometime during this time to pray together for the Pope.

    2) The school is planning to be able to set up some kind of cable feed for Friday, April 8, morning so that coverage of the funeral will be available on campus.

    3) Please join us for an all-school Memorial Mass scheduled for Tuesday, April 12 at 9:45 a.m. We will gather as a faith community to celebrate the Eucharist, to remember the Pope, and to pray for discernment for the Cardinals as they go into Papal Conclave to select a new Pope.
