2005-2006 Excellence in Education Annual
Fund
~ Impacting Your Child Today!
Electricity. Computer equipment. Teacher salaries and
benefits. Boilers. The ability to take in hurricane
evacuees. All of these are made possible in part due
to your investment in the Excellence in Education
Annual Fund.
Donna and Dan Ryckaert are chairing the 2005-2006 parent campaign
of the EIE Annual Fund. They have two sons, Eric ’06, and Adam
’08, and have seen the value of the impact the Annual Fund can
have on a school.
“I know tuition doesn’t cover all the costs of
operating a school of this size,” says Donna. “The
great thing about the EIE Annual Fund is that when
we as parents invest, it has a direct effect on our
children. Our financial goal this year is $135,000 ,
with 100% participation from our parents . Not only
does this benefit the school directly, but it also
shows potential funders that we as parents believe
in the mission of NCHS and are willing to go the extra
mile to make a positive difference.”
NCHS has a long history of creating champions on
and off the field. It is only through the support of the
EIE Annual Fund that we can continue to have the
faculty and facilities necessary to make that happen.
Please look for your Annual Fund appeal in the mail to
make a difference!
NCHS Wish List Now Available
~ The Nolan
Catholic High School Wish List is a
resource for interested individuals to assist NCHS in a
specific way to meet needs that are immediate,
unanticipated or specific to certain programs. If you
would like to assist a specific program in addition to
their ongoing Annual Fund support, visit the NCHS
web site, click on Support NCHS, and follow the links
to the Wish List.
Please consider a Wish List item in addition to your
Excellence in Education Annual Fund support, not in
place of it.
These wishes will be updated periodically.
Thanks for making wishes come true!

"The Looks of Loss"
~
Hurricane Katrina's aftermath through the eyes
of a NCHS alumnus
My name is Charles S. Molinets and I am a 1991
graduate of Nolan Catholic High School. I am in the
National Guard and was activated for Hurricane
Katrina. I am the commander of the Bravo Company,
249th Main Support Battalion, 36th Infantry Division
of the Texas National Guard. My unit was the first
National Guard Unit in the United States called to
active duty for this devastating event. My unit
provides all the transportation asset for the entire
Texas National Guard. The only other transportation
unit in the Texas National Guard recently returned
from IRAQ and most of those soldiers returned to my
unit. Here is my story:
29 August, Monday
I was notified of my unit going to downtown New
Orleans to provide transportation assistance to the
displaced citizens of New Orleans
30 August, Tuesday
Soldiers reported to my unit in Austin, Texas. We
then went to Houston, Texas to meet up with other
soldiers that were moving out to New Orleans. From
there we drove all our vehicles (a 144 vehicle
convoy) to a Lake Charles, Louisiana Armory and
spent the night here.
. . .
To the Nolan Catholic High School faculty: I think my
education at Nolan [Catholic] has prepared me for
everything in the World. Leaving NCHS and going to a
private college in another state I found my self over-
prepared and did better academically there then I did
at NCHS. Nolan Catholic High School challenged me in
every regard academically and athletically. I honestly
believe...no, I know...that Nolan prepared me to face
any challenge in life. Believe me the military threw
many, many [challenges] at me.
God bless the citizens of Louisiana and Nolan Catholic
High School.
More for Capt. Charles Molinets
