Dear Parents,
September has been busy and fun at NCHS. Thank
you to all of the parents who have stepped up to
help in various ways to support our students. Parent
volunteers have already accomplished so much this
new year. Keep up the great work.
This issue highlights some of the great progress this
school year. And we are all just getting started!
Do you know of a new family here at NCHS? Forward
them this e-mail so they too can be informed of key

The Nolan Dance Company
is kicking off their
fall season with another one of their brilliant and
original Choreographers' Showcases. Melinda Cantu
is
contributing one of her specialties, a beautiful lyric
dance as well as a spicy, exuberant, crowd-pleasing
jazz number. Kristin Reed is venturing into new
territory with a modern dance composition. Elizabeth
Eder and Lauren Haggard are on hand with a couple
of lively and inventive tap stylizations. Anne
Pennebaker is making her choreographic debut with a
lyric dance dedicated to one of her friends. Natasha
Ashton has a sparkling, dramatic and exciting ballet
to show off. Last, but in no way least, Candace
Rattliff is putting together a very happy HIP HOP.
On November 2 and 3 at 7pm, The Nolan
Dance Company will present this, their Fall 2004
Choreographers' Showcase, in concert at Nolan
Catholic High School. Sharing the program with The
Dance Company will be the Dance III class, dancing
their interpretation of the FOUR SEASONS. In the
SPRING, Dance III will be "Singin' in the Rain" and the
SUMMER will be "Hot, Hot, Hot!! FALL is totally
dedicated to Halloween with a 'monster mix' of music
put together by the dancers. (They all knew that a
Halloween dance was a SURE THING for an A
because
Halloween is Ms. Elan's absolute favorite holiday!!!)
WINTER will be a joyful, prancing "Sleighride". That is
all the news from the NCHS world of dance for now!!
Stay tuned for more exciting, upcoming events!!!

Pocket Drives Still Available
~ Students
that use the computers at school (library or
computer lab) are urged to use mini
portable USB drives
instead of
floppy disks to save their work. This will minimize the
problems we have with disks getting stuck in the
floppy drives. One would most likely hold all of a
student's work for the entire year. We have a few
left in the computer lab for $17.

Mardi Gras 2005 Off to a Great Start!
The
new Chairmen for Mardi Gras 2005, Carol and Jim
Leito, have jumped into their roles with much
enthusiasm and have recruited a great/stellar
committee. Event Coordinator is Marianne Chelgren;
solicitation Coordinator is Jerry Reis and a new
position, Administration Coordinator is being led by
Carolyn Gruensfelder. This mix of NCHS "veteran"
volunteers as well as some new faces should result in
one of the best Mardi Gras' ever!
If you are new to NCHS, Mardi Gras is a much
beloved parent fund raiser and community builder. It
is also a great opportunity to meet people and get
involved. The 24th annual NCHS Mardi Gras will be an
evening of dinner, dancing and an exciting auction.
The event will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2005
at The Doral Tesoro Hotel and Golf Club.

Cradicks to Chair 04-05 Excellence in Education
Annual Fund
David and Carol Cradick have agreed to chair the
2004-2005 NCHS Excellence in Education Annual
Fund. This fund is instrumental in making up the
$600,000 difference between the cost of operating
the school and monies collected through tuition,
registration and service fees.
David, better known as "Kidd Kraddick" of radio
station KISS FM 106.1, and his wife Carol have been
NCHS parents since 2001. Carol is a member of the
School Board, Institutional Advancement Committee
and Theatre Nolan Parent.
Over the next month, NCHS parents be receiving a
request to participate in the Annual Fund. Your
participation is invaluable.
Here's why:
As with most private schools, NCHS tuition covers
less than 87% of the total operating budget for
NCHS.
Even with 1.6% from the Catholic Diocese of Ft.
Worth, a little over a half million needs to be
raised.
The Excellence in Education Annual Fund supports
every facet of the Nolan Catholic experience from
laboratories to libraries; cultural programs to campus
improvements; from faculty salaries to financial
assistance.
You can multiply your gift. If you work for a
company that has a matching gift program, your gift
could be doubled or tripled! Ask your employer for
details.
You gift serves as a springboard for more gifts.
Charitable foundations and funds seriously consider
the percentage of families who financially support the
school with a financial gift.
Your investment provides all of this, and unlike many
fund raisers, you benefit because your contribution is
100% tax deductible!
Our faculty and staff believe so strongly in NCHS
that they have already contributed over $15,000 to
this year's annual fund! The school board has made
a commitment to once again support the Excellence
in Education Annual Fund with 100% participation.
Won't you join the winning team? Please prayerfully
consider your gift to the Excellence in Education
Annual Fund when you are asked in the next month.
You are the foundation!
