The officers will be traveling to Orlando, FL in November
for the National Conference. They will be bringing back new ideas for
both NHS and NJHS, in hopes of revitalizing the societies. We wish them
luck!
Also, if your student was a member of NHS or NJHS at their school last
year, they may participate in all NHS and NJHS activities this semester.
Their membership will be formally transferred in the Spring at the Tapping
Ceremony. Dues and service hours for transferring members will not be
due until the Spring.
Finally, membership in either honor Society is based upon a student’s
cumulative GPA (maintaining at least a 93.0 average), service work, demonstrated
leadership ability, character, and citizenship. Applications for new members
(NJHS= 7th-9th grade, NHS= 10th-12th grade) will be given out in the Spring
after the Fall grades are turned in. Current members who have not paid
their dues will be placed on probation if they do not turn in their $10
fee. Also, 6 service hours are required per semester (they do not carry
over) and will be due in December on the last day of Fall midterm exams.
Please address any questions to Ms. Lisa Miles at lmiles@nolancatholichs.org.
