Dear Parents,
For being a short month, February has been very busy!
NCHS completed another successful accreditation
campaign and held the annual Mardi Gras "fun"-draiser.
A number of students were recognized individually and
in groups for outstanding academic and athletic

SACS Accreditation ~ A team representing
the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
(SACS) visited NCHS on February 5,6, 2004. The team
consisted of four individuals who were acquainted with
the SACS School Improvement Process. The team
spent two days talking with personnel, studying the
school's self-study, and viewing the actual operation of
the school and ultimately recommended NCHS continue
as a member, in good standing, with the SACS.
According to the
Report of the Peer Review
Team, "this staff is dedicated to the students at
Nolan Catholic High School and their quest to be the
very best high school possible. The morale and tradition
on this campus seems to be very positive." The report
continues to commend NCHS in a number of areas that
highlighted, among others, the school's library services,
technology advances, improvement team, student
pride, faculty dedication, and quality leadership.
College Fair
~ The College Fair is Tuesday,
March 23 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the Hartnett Arena.
It is primarily intended for juniors and their parents,

be in attendance. The counselors will be available to
answer college related questions and provide
information. For more information, contact the
Guidance Office.
2004 Mardi Gras
~ Thank you
to all who
attended, donated to, or volunteered for the 23rd
Annual NCHS Mardi Gras. The majority of comments
from the party-goers gave the event rave reviews.
Tasty food, exceptional silent and live auction items,
and an atmosphere of fun and fellowship made the
evening a community success.
The Office of Institutional Advancement is compiling all
of the data to determine the financial level of success
for the event. Visit the Mardi Gras webpage to see
photos from this year's event.
Merci
Beaucoup!

Impressions from India
~ Mr. Nemeth's WGS
Asian and Pacific Cultures class recently visited with
guest speaker, Fr. Alfonso Kim of Maryknoll. Fr. Kim
recently returned from a visit in India and shared his
impressions with the students. He shared a number of
insights including the fact that our Blessed Mother is
venerated not only by Catholics in India but by Hindus,
Muslims, and other religious groups as well. Indians are
impressed by Mary's life of poverty and willingness to
help others.

Mary, Mother of All Nations |
|
|
On Wednesday, February 11th,
members of the
Freshman class celebrated a special mass in honor of
their patroness, Mary, Mother of All Nations. As the
mother of Jesus, Mary desires to draw all people of
every nation and culture to Christ. The liturgy
celebrated the cultural diversity present in the Nolan
Catholic Community through prayer, song, native
costumes and dance. At the same time, it highlighted
our unity in the Body of Christ.
The Mass began with senior Megan
Rihani, dressed as
Mary Mother of All Nations, leading a procession of
students dressed in native costumes of countries from
around the world. Petitions of the Prayers of the
Faithful were read in 10 different languages. The
music, also, had a multicultural flavor. A select group
of students from Mr. Nemeth's geography classes
performed a sacred hula in praise of Mary, Mother of All
Nations. Mrs. Fulkerson, Director of Campus Ministry,
estimates that over 80 students were involved in the
planning and preparation of all aspects of the
liturgy. "It was really a team effort!"
