NCHS Mardi Gras Dinner, Auction and Dance
Set for Feb. 10
The Mardi Gras committee is busy making plans for
February’s festivities. If you’re new to Nolan this year
or have never attended this traditional event, this is
your chance to join in the fun and all that is Mardi
Gras.
Mardi Gras is one of the oldest and most beloved fun-
raisers for parents, alumni and friends alike. Although
it’s primarily a great way for the Nolan Catholic
community to come together for an evening of fun
and fellowship, income generated from this event has
helped change the face of NCHS by providing funding
for such items as networking and computers for the
science labs, recruiting materials, a high-speed
copier, a campus work truck and parking lot
renovations.
The evening’s activities include:
• Live Auction. You’ll be amazed at some of
the great items you can bid on.
• Bourbon Street. This is a silent auction
format using bid boards. Bourbon Street bidding is
broken down into categories including: Big Easy,
usually big ticket packages; Celebrity Memorabilia of
all kinds; Fat Tuesday theme parties; French Market,
handmade gifts, themed baskets and décor; Mike’s
Garden, an assortment of plants and garden décor;
and Nolan Nook, themed items and memorabilia.
• Raffle drawings. The ever-popular raffle
drawing featuring a $3,500 prize package. Raffle
tickets are sold primarily by students starting in
December through the night of Mardi Gras.
To make the night extra special, you might consider
becoming a Sponsor. An exclusive Presenting Sponsor
is available for $25,000.
Other Sponsor opportunities
are available at the following levels:
• Platinum $10,000
• Gold $ 5,000
• Emerald $ 3,000
Krewe tables are $1,200 for reserved seating. Make
plans to sit with your friends and reserve your Krewe
table now. All Sponsor and Krewe tables are seating
for 10. Open seating individual tickets will be sold for
$85 For more information on Sponsor and Krewe
tables, contact Don Phifer at 817-498-9103.
Altogether the NCHS Mardi Gras has something for
everyone. So mark the date and plan to be part of
this great tradition at Nolan Catholic High School.
Who’s Who Among America’s
Teachers
The following teachers were honored in the
2005/2006 edition of Who’s Who Among America’s
Teachers.
Congratulations to:
Mr. Paul Duckworth – Computer Science
Mr. James R. (Ron) Jones – Business & Associate
Dean of Students
Mrs. Patty Kulpa - Guidance
Ms. Melissa Landegran – Foreign Language
Mrs. Cheryl Moddrell - Mathematics
Mr. Jimmy Nelson – Health/Physical Education
Mr. Mark Rist - Theology
Mrs. Elizabeth Sullivan – Mathematics
Having achieved this distinction twice, it does make a
teacher feel good. Why? A recipient has been
nominated by a student for this distinction. This
teacher has touched someone and that is what we
are to do as teachers. For many students, the
realization does not take place until year later, but
for others, the realization of the impact of this
particular teacher is clear now.
Thanks to all who have won the award and thanks to
all the students that took time to nominate these
teachers.

| 2006-2007 Excellence in Education Annual Fund |
 |
more than an education, a
FOUNDATION.
Preparing students for a lifetime
Since the opening of its doors in 1961, Nolan Catholic
High School has impacted the lives of its students in
significant ways. It continues to play a vital role in
forming young people, by providing essential elements
of a strong foundation that paves the way for
productive, meaningful lives. Many different success
plans emerge, but all share the same critical
characteristics of faith, education, family, service
and adaptation to achieve success.
Why Invest?
NCHS is committed to build on its rich history of
tradition and excellence. A wide variety of
opportunities are available allowing our students to
grow and succeed. In spite of escalating operating
expenses, NCHS works diligently to keep tuition
affordable for all families. At the same time, our
students deserve safe, well-maintained facilities with
current technology and teaching methods. In order
to achieve these very critical and important
objectives, we rely on the generosity of others to
supplement our budget through thoughtful investment
in our Annual Fund. Simply put - it takes many more
dollars than those generated through tuition to fulfill
these critical obligations.
Our Goal: $150,000
You can help!
2006-2007 Priorities!
• updating and increasing our security
equipment
• continuing to remodel and update our
science labs
• reworking and updating our resource center
(library)
You can help make these priorities a reality. Please
consider investing in the 2006-2007 Annual Fund.
Your gift paves the way for Nolan Catholic to
continue its legacy of excellence. With your
assistance, this and future generations of students
will be well prepared to assume the mantel of
leadership in the years ahead.
Build a foundation - invest today!
