The Nolan Dance Company is the upper level performance and choreography class in the Nolan Dance Department. It is for dancers who have achieved a solid intermediate level dance technique and who do not need yet ANOTHER technique class. Dance technique is not taught. The graded syllabus consists of choreography and performances. The company is eclectic......that is, several different styles and disciplines are employed. Auditions will cover classical ballet, lyrical, jazz and tap. Dancers need to be strong in three out the four areas. Dancers should wear solid color tights and leotards to the auditions. Tights need to be worn UNDERNEATH the leotards and there should be no holes or runs. Hair should be clipped back out of the fact or secured in a pony-tail or bun. Ballet shoes, tap shoes and jazz shoes are necessary. If a dancer does not have jazz shoes, he/she may use their ballet shoes for the jazz combination. Lyric sandals are optional.

The Dance Department at Nolan Catholic is an academic and eclectic program. It is part of the high School curriculum. The disciplines studied are classical ballet, modern dance, and tap.

Dance classes may be taken for physical education credit, Fine Arts credit, or elective credit.

Our focus is on ensemble performance rather than solo work. As a Catholic College Preparatory School, we are very serious about using dance as a tool for teaching community interaction, co-operation, adaptation and change, projection and actualization of goals, resposibility and personal discipline.
