TPSMEA and TMEA All-State Choir State-Level Auditions

Congratulations to members of the NCHS choir who competed in the Texas Private School Music Educators Association’s All-State Choir state level auditions. The following students were named to the All-State Choir:

In addition to making the All-State Choir, Lauren Lutz was named the state’s #1 Soprano in private schools.

And for more really big news …Senior Emily Rew advanced to the Texas Music Educators Association Area Auditions which will be held on Jan. 5. (TMEA is a state public school organization and includes a much larger field of contestants.) Emily made 3rd chair in the Round 1 District audition in September, 3rd chair in the Round 2 Region audition in October, and 3rd chair in the Round 3 Pre-Area audition on Nov. 16. She is number 3 out of 5 altos chosen from Region 7 of the TMEA to advance to the Round 4 Area audition. This is the final round of auditions to make the All-State Choir. Good Luck Emily!

NCHS Names New Choir Director

Nolan Catholic High School welcomes Mr. Marion Nesvadba as the new Director of the Choral Program. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Sacred Heart Dominican College, and his Masters in Music Performance from the University of Houston. Mr. Nesvadba has been the Director of Choral Activites for Tarrant County College, and was the conductor of the combined choirs and orchestra for the NCHS Choir performance at Carnegie Hall on March 20, 2006.

Previously, he was the Choral Director at Lee College in Baytown, Texas, and at La Porte High School. Mr. Nesvadba also has more than 20 years of experience in church music at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in downtown Fort Worth.

While we owe so much to Mrs. Arlene Anderson Jones for the development of the NCHS Choral program to what it is today, and are sad to see her leave, we are excited that Mr. Nesvadba is ready to continue the tradition of excellence established in the NCHS Choral Program and take it to the next level.
