Physical Education

High school students are required to earn one and one-half Physical Education credits for graduation. Physical Education, or Symphonic Band, Color Guard, Winter Guard, Dance, T.A.P.P.S. Athletics, Drill Team, and Cheerleading may be utilized to satisfy this requirement.

907/908/917/918 – Girls/Boys Junior High
Athletics/ Fine Arts
This course is designed to introduce all types of sports to the junior high student. Rules of play and strategy in each sport are presented and followed by skill development. The course goal is to promote physical and social development through team sports. individual sports. Sports presented include volleyball, football, soccer, basketball, softball, and track and field. Students must take at least one quarter of fine art during each year. Drama is divided into four quarters a year and may be repeated each quarter. No prerequisite is required. The class consists of improvisation, pantomime, voice and diction and reading from selected plays. The second and fourth quarters will be devoted to a full-scale stage production which will be performed in the auditorium for family and friends. Students will be graded on participation and conduct.

910/911/924/925 - Girls/Boys Physical Education
The course is designed to introduce the student to lifetime physical and social skills through team sports such as volleyball, football, basketball, softball plus soccer as well as individual activities such as golf, badminton and fitness. Students may earn no more than 2.0 total credits in P.E. or Athletics toward the 27 needed for graduation.
