The “Health” course utilizes the “Holistic” approach,
looking at the physical, mental and social aspects of health. The course will
also focus on the consumer aspect of decision making in all aspects of health
related choices. The role that drugs, alcohol and other abusive substances
facing America’s youth today is a major unit. The course will also look
into the Life Cycle and focus on Abstinence and social diseases that are prevalent
in our society today. The course will also have an extensive concentration
on fitness; and choosing the right personal exercises for an individual’s
needs and wants. The course will also look at nutrition, identifying and understanding
nutrition labels and other aspect of proper nutrition. The students will also
have the opportunity to receive Certification in Adult/Child/Infant, CPR/Rescue
Breathing/ and the use of the AED (Automatic External Difebulator) through
the American Heart Association. This section is taught during class time and
is very thorough in nature.
