Volunteers

Whether chaperoning a retreat, serving on a committee or assisting a teacher in a classroom, our parent volunteers are needed and appreciated.

We recognize that families are busy, so NCHS has opportunities for you to help out a little or a lot, depending on your schedule.

VOLUNTEER Q & A

Why is volunteering important to NCHS?
Volunteering builds the community by providing additional hands to get the job done. It gives you another avenue of support for your children, making students emotionally healthier. Volunteering is a great way to meet the parents of your children's friends, as well as the faculty and staff who interact with your children every day.

Will NCHS keep track of volunteer hours?
Parents will receive Parent Volunteer Record postcards to keep track of volunteer hours. Please turn in postcards to the Volunteer Coordinator.

By keeping accurate volunteer service records, the school can demonstrate to foundations and corporations that our community is involved in our school. Foundations consider this an important factor when deciding to fund projects. Many companies only contribute to organizations where their employees volunteer. Some companies even provide additional financial incentives to employees for their volunteer time.

Who “counts” as a volunteer?
Any individual who helps us without receiving payment is considered a volunteer.

What activities constitute volunteering?
Volunteering is any work you do for NCHS for which you do not receive payment. This includes: Chaperoning, Working in the concession stands, Soliciting contributions, ads, or in-kind donations, Planning meetings, etc.

How do I get started?
1. Click for the list of volunteer opportunities. Fill out the volunteer sheet and mail it back to the Volunteer Coordinator as soon as possible. Or bring it to the Main Office.

2. All NCHS volunteers must fill out the Diocesan Background Investigation Disclosure Form, and return it to the Volunteer Coordinator. All volunteers must attend a Keeping Children, Youth and Vulnerable Adults Safe Session. Sessions will be offered at NCHS and other Diocesan locations. Click here for the NCHS Sessions or go to the Diocesan website for dates and locations. The form and session attendance must be completed prior to any volunteer involvement.

3. Parents can use the set of Parent Volunteer Record postcards. Fill out the requested information, mark your hours on the card each day you volunteer, and mail the postcard at the end of each month. If you forget to send it in one month, please send your postcard in as soon as you can.

4. Throughout the year you may find other volunteer opportunities. Feel free to contact the Volunteer Coordinator directly; we want you to get involved!
