National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are committed to service scholarship, leadership, and character. We promote high academic success and encourage it in others through peer tutoring. We seek to educate the whole student with respect to leadership and character. We instill a dedication to service for others in our members.
The Monsignor Robert M. Nolan Chapter of the NJHS is open to 9th grade students. The St. Thomas Aquinas Chapter of the NHS is open to 10 - 12th grade students. Tapping and induction of new members into the chapters occur during the spring semester. Students must maintain a cumulative average of 93.0. Students will be placed on probation for one semester if their average falls below 93.0; if at the end of the next semester, they again raise their cumulative average to above 93.0, they regain their status as a member in good standing; if they are unable to do so, they will be dismissed.
NHS/NJHS members are required to complete 12 service hours per year (above and beyond Christian Ministry requirements). Meetings are held on an approximate quarterly basis and attendance at all meetings is mandatory. Meetings are advertised through the daily bulletin, posters, and through this web site. Member dues are $10 per year. Seniors are required to pay a fee of $20 for the Senior Stoles to be worn at graduation.
Special events include service projects sponsored by the chapters in which all members are encouraged and expected to participate.
