2. Parents please be advised that for the 2006-2007 school year, Nolan Catholic will no longer be accepting credit cards for tuition payments. Credit cards will still be accepted for Registration and miscellaneous fees/services. The major driver for this change is the magnitude of credit card fees associated with processing the tuition payments. It is estimated that approximately $60,000 will be saved during the 06-07 year by implementing this change. When benchmarking with other private schools and universities around the country, the majority do not accept credit cards for tuition payments.
It has been suggested that we just “add a little extra” to the charge amount to help us cover our credit card fees. We are not allowed to do this according to our merchant agreement with the credit card companies. However, there are 3rd party vendors who will process credit card payments for various entities and charge the individual who is making payment with the credit card a “convenience fee”, which is typically a percentage of the charge. We are still trying to find a 3rd party to provide this service for the 06-07 year, but as of February 1, 2006, no 3rd party vendor has been identified. Further updates will be provided as they become available. Also, the acceptable methods of payment will be noted in the bills to be sent out in early May, 2006.
