Alumni Association Institutes Distinguished
Alumni Award
Ralph McCloud '73 is Inagural Recipient
The
2007-08 Alumni Association instituted a Hall of Fame to honor those
who give generously of their time, talent, and treasure to Nolan Catholic
High School and, in turn, honor the school. The Alumni Association is
launching the Hall of Fame this year with one award, the Distinguished
Alumni Award, with the intention to develop a broader and extensive
hall of fame with multiple awards over the next few years.
The Nolan Catholic High School Distinguished Alumni Award
honors graduates for outstanding professional achievements and/or significant
impact in the community that exemplify Esto Dux and the Marianist characteristics
in which they were educated. This year’s, the first year’s,
Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to Ralph McCloud.
Ralph McCloud has been very involved with his community
politically, socially, and religiously. His resume is long in the area
of social justice ministry. It includes founding, coordinating, and
directing many of the following groups in the Diocese of Fort Worth
and nationwide: Peace and Justice Ministries, Catholic Campaign for
Human Development, African-American Summit for Peace, Justice and Equality,
National Association of Black Catholic Administrators, African-American
Ministries, and the National Association of Diocesan Social Ministry
Directors. Civicly, Ralph served on the Fort Worth City Council for
eight years, as mayor pro-tem, and chaired the Mayor’s Commission
on Homelessness. Ralph currently acts as the director of the U. S. Conference
of Catholic Bishops’ Catholic Campaign for Human Development to
