Philosophy of Financial Aid
Nolan Catholic hopes to provide every qualified student the opportunity to attend our school. The responsibility for funding a student’s educational expenses lies with the parents and the student. For those who cannot pay the full cost, Nolan Catholic has a financial aid program that provides assistance. All financial aid is issued as need-based aid. This is the most equitable way to ensure that students of most economic backgrounds find a Nolan Catholic education accessible. There is no assurance that a student receiving financial aid in one year will be issued the same amount the following year. Financial need has no bearing on the admissions decision. Each year, to ensure consideration for financial aid from Nolan Catholic and the Bishop’s Scholar Fund the parents must:
- File a financial aid application with Private School Aid Service (PSAS) by March 1 and pay the PSAS application fee. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure that PSAS has all the documentation necessary to complete the financial profile. It is advised that parents follow the application status on-line at www.psas.org.
- Register your student for the coming school year in a timely manner and pay the non-refundable $500 registration fee. The registration fee insures your intention of attending Nolan Catholic and it secures a place for your student in the fall.
Both steps must be completed to be considered for financial aid. Please note that there are separate notifications sent from the Diocesan Bishop’s Scholar Fund and NCHS.
