Welcome to Nolan Catholic High School. This year we kick off a year-long celebration of 50 years on the Bridge Street campus. We define the anniversary this way because Nolan’s beginning is very unique. The graphic below depicts what we call the “Five Years of Firsts.” The initial five years of Nolan’s history each celebrate a “first”: 1961 – school opens under the OLV name and accreditation; 1962 – first graduation of OLV girls; 1963 – first class of mixed gender (OLV girls and Laneri boys) graduates; 1964 -- name changes to Nolan High School; 1965 – first year of graduates who attended all four years on this campus.
As a Marianist school, we also continue our celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, founder of the Society of Mary, and watch the progress of his candidacy for sainthood as it proceeds through the Vatican.
I anticipate an amazing year full of grace and blessings as we reflect back on our history. First and foremost, I am grateful for Bishop Kevin Vann’s generous and abundant support of Catholic secondary education.
Throughout our 50-year history, Nolan Catholic’s top priority has and will remain Catholic faith formation of our students. Nolan also distinguishes itself as a vibrant faith community marked with a distinctively “Marianist Family Spirit” that has harvested many cherished life-long relationships.
Of course, a celebration of this magnitude does not happen without the support and hard work of many people. My thanks go out to all of you who have provided insight into our planning and volunteered to help in some way.
I invite you to join us in celebrating this upcoming year’s exciting events. I hope to continue to renew relationships with former students and faculty, and look forward to the opportunity to begin new ones.
